Gary has been active in the Wisconsin arts community for decades, including serving as four term president of the 108 year old artist organization, Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors/Wisconsin VIsual Artists Inc., several time exhibition chair for the Wisconsin Artists Biennial, juror, lecturer and panelist, teacher, collector appraiser and exhibiting artist who has been in over 100 exhibits. His credits include several first awards, best of show, and other juror awards. He has been an arts writer creating the bimonthly article titled "The Regional Art Junkie" and "The REgional Art HOmer" for the publication, "Art in Wisconsin". A large part of his collection of sculpture by other sculptors was exhibited at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in 2007. He was the originator, CoFounder and CoChair of the Wisconsin Visual Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards. (Visit WWW.WVALAA.COM) He is a recipient of a prestigious Nohl Professional Fellowship Award of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation administered thru the Peck School of the Arts, UW Milwaukee. In 09 he was an Artist In Residence for the Kohler Co. and Kohler Art center, and in June of 09 he received a Wisconsin Visual Arts Lifetime Achievement Award administered by the Museum of Wisconsin Art, The Wisconsin Visual Artists, Inc., and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters.
